If I try doing the same AFTER I clear the cache, then it indicates file not found with the source path pointing to the now cleared file in the temporary browser cache folder. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, images, html, custom formats. It saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time.

If after that I clear the browser cache, and then try to paste the image from ditto into the folder, nothing happens (no file gets pasted into the folder).īTW, if I right-click on the ditto entry, hit import/export, then import from CF_HDROP (and I do this BEFORE I clear the cache): it produces a popup error "CP_Main Encountered an Improper Argument". Ditto is an extension to the standard windows clipboard. If I then paste the image from ditto into a folder, the image copies.

Hello Maloney - I am simply browsing a web page or a blog post page on any regular website, then hovering over an image (for example, an image that is not a hyperlink but rather just an image displayed on the page with no associated link), right-clicking on it and selecting "copy" from the context menu. via the URL in the ditto entry) rather than trying to copy/paste the cached file when I try to paste the Ditto entry later on? CopyQ is a free advanced clipboard managing application that lets users save the system clipboard in customized tabs. Or alternately, is there a way that upon paste Ditto can reference the original source of the file (i.e. after you cleared out browser caches (which occurs often as I regularly run CCleaner)?

Is there a way to force Ditto to save the actual image file itself into the Ditto DB, so that this way Ditto retains the actual file thus enabling you to paste it later on, i.e. So when I paste the entry, it seems Ditto is referencing and copy/pasting the file from the local browser cache.īut, if later I clear the browser cache, and then try to paste the file from Ditto into a folder, the file is NOT copied because it is referencing a non-existent file from the browser cache. Other interesting Mac alternatives to Ditto are ClipboardFusion, Clipy, 1clipboard and Maccy.
Ditto vs copyq for mac#
If that doesn't suit you, our users have ranked more than 50 alternatives to Ditto and many of them are available for Mac so hopefully you can find a suitable replacement. If I copy a file from a website, the URL of that file is placed in the Ditto entry but it seems that the file itself is not placed into Ditto - instead, it seems that Ditto includes a reference to the file in the local browser cache. The best Mac alternative is CopyQ, which is both free and Open Source.
